A New Explanation for Light Interaction with the Retina of the Eye and the Vision Process
This BBC video above "Colorful Notions" from 1985 first summarizes the classical theory of color vision and follows with the ideas of Edwin Land who personally explains and demonstrates his experiments. It can be viewed as an introduction to this work.

MACULAR DEGENERATION
by Gerald Huth on August 24, 2010
Technology exists to fabricate a precise silicon replica of the imaging area of the retina (concentric rings from the fovea to 20 degrees of retinal eccentricity) that would mirror the spatial distribution of light detecting sites defined by this work. I believe that such a passive chip, surgically implanted in contact with the plane of receptor outer segments could reverse crucial spatial degradation of these segments consequently aiding in reversing the course of the condition of macular degeneration.
I solicit collaboration with any of the numerous groups engaged in development of artificial retina prostheses.
